Naledi Ya Pholo - inspiring hope, education, and healing across South Africa
Welcome to Naledi Ya Pholo
The Naledi Ya Pholo Foundation is named after Naledi. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a young age, her journey inspired a mission to support others, educate the public and raise awareness across South Africa.
Naledi Ya Pholo, meaning "Star of Healing", is a dynamic, community-centred registered non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming how diabetes is understood, managed and supported - especially in previously disadvantaged and underserved communities.
We believe access to advanced diabetes care should not be a privilege reserved for the urban elite.

The reason our foundation is called Naledi Ya Pholo is because my name is Naledi, and I am diabetic. I want the world to know that you don't only get diabetes from eating too many sweets. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of two and when I turned five, I had a million questions about my condition. My mom and I decided to start Naledi Ya Pholo to learn more, teach others and spread awareness about diabetes. I want more people to know that diabetes is not the end of the world.
